Meet Our Director: Vince Giordano
Vince Giordano is the 11th library director of the Juniata County Library and has been with the library since April 2015.
Vince began working in libraries in November 2010 as a volunteer at the Martin Memorial Library in York, PA. He later worked in Martin's Information Services department, at Memorial Hospital's medical library and with the York County Library Systems integrated library system (ILS.) In less than 5 years working in libraries, Vince was hired as the library director at the Juniata County Library.
Vince works with diverse learners to expand their knowledge, find resources, and help navigate our changing world. In over 10 years of working in urban, medical, and rural libraries each varying in size, Vince has assisted a wide variety of readers and learners with unique interests and desires related to information. Vince believes in assisting learners of all ages to find the information in various formats that they need so to advance their lives and learning literacies.
Vince oversees the daily operations of the library and works in a variety of settings within the library, including working with the board of trustees to strategically place the library in the community, managing the library's technology infrastructure, coordinating volunteer activities, buying books, training staff and writing a weekly column for the local newspapers.
Vince serves in a volunteer capacity as the Chair of the Pennsylvania Library Association's Teaching, Learning, and Technology Roundtable (TL&T) as well as a board member of PaILS.
Vince earned a Bachelor's in History and Secondary Education from Shippensburg University in 2009 and a Master's in Library Information Science (MLIS) from the University of Pittsburgh in 2016.
In his free time, Vince enjoys reading Michael Connelly's books and editing the map of the GPS app Waze.
